Travel pattern · Colorado Springs + Pikes Peak south slope

The Broadmoor + Elk Glade.

Many of our guests stack a Broadmoor stay on one or both ends of their ranch week. Here's how it works in practice — directions, booking patterns, and how to coordinate concierge requests across two properties.

What this is, and what it isn’t

We do not have a formal booking partnership with The Broadmoor — there’s no commission, no shared software, no co-branded packages. What we do have is a steady stream of guests who book both properties on the same trip, and the practical experience of coordinating their week across two front desks. This page is the playbook we share when they ask how.

Why the pairing works

Same geography. Different experience tier.

The Broadmoor is the historic premium resort at the eastern base of Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. Elk Glade is a 138-year working cattle ranch and outfitter at the western foot of Cheyenne Mountain, an hour’s drive west on Old Stage Road. The two properties sit on opposite sides of the same mountain.

For guests flying in from out of state, the Broadmoor is a 10-minute drive from Colorado Springs airport (COS). Elk Glade is roughly 90 minutes from COS. The cleanest itinerary is to land, stay at the Broadmoor the first night, drive in the next morning, then optionally come back to the Broadmoor for the last night before flying home. That’s the pattern most of our hunters + cattle-drive guests follow.

The Broadmoor concierge is comfortable making arrangements for guests wanting an Elk Glade day — they’ve referred horseback and fly-fishing inquiries to us for years on an informal basis. When you book, mention the dates you want at Elk Glade and the Broadmoor can adjust your check-in / check-out around the ranch portion.

Three booking patterns

How guests actually use both.

Book a cattle-drive day at Elk Glade, add a Broadmoor night

Most common pattern. Fly into Colorado Springs (COS), taxi or rental car to The Broadmoor for dinner and a soak in the springs. The next morning you make the hour drive west to the ranch for the day cattle drive. After the ride, back to the Broadmoor for a recovery night before the flight home.

Hunters stacking a Broadmoor recovery night

Fall hunt weeks at Elk Glade are intense — five or six days of pre-dawn starts and long ridges. Some hunters book the Broadmoor for the night before flying home: clean shower, a real bed, a great meal, and you're at COS in 15 minutes the next morning. We hold trophies + processed meat for cold pickup on the way to the airport.

Wedding or corporate group — different venues, one weekend

Larger events that want both the luxury hotel and the working-ranch backdrop sometimes split: Broadmoor reception, ranch-meadow ceremony or photos, Broadmoor return for the night. Mention the Broadmoor in your inquiry and we'll coordinate the timing on our end.

The drive in

From the Broadmoor to the ranch gate.

The shortest route runs Old Stage Road west off The Broadmoor, through the Cheyenne Mountain neighborhood, past Penrose Zoo Road, and onto the gravel past the Bear Trap Ranch turn. Six miles of gravel after that, you reach the H.C. Rathke gate at Elk Glade.

Important: cell service drops past the Broadmoor. Print or screenshot the trip planner directions before you leave the resort.

Booking logistics

Two separate folios.

Book the Broadmoor room directly through broadmoor.com or the Broadmoor reservations line — they’re a large resort and prefer the direct booking flow. Book the Elk Glade portion separately through us. The two stays are billed independently, but the Broadmoor concierge can arrange a car service to the ranch and back if you don’t want to drive.

For larger groups, weddings, or corporate weeks that need to span both, send a note via our inquiry form and we’ll handle the ranch coordination on our end.

A combined week

Send a note. We’ll plan the ranch end.

Tell us your dates and what you’d like to do at the ranch. We’ll come back with a candidate week and hold the Elk Glade dates while you finalize the Broadmoor portion separately.
