Tags & draw odds
Tag type: Limited draw (trophy unit).
A marquee trophy unit — recent nonresident point requirements run roughly in the high 20s for the limited bull tag, effectively a 20+ year wait. Verify current-year odds with CPW.
Access & crowding
Good vehicle access on maintained BLM roads (not a deep-wilderness unit).
Very low — a tiny tag allocation (recent quotas around 30) against 1,000+ applicants means minimal field pressure.
Who GMU 2 is for
A genuine trophy unit — mature 6×6 bulls are the target, with Boone & Crockett-class bulls in the ~340" range reported (anecdotal / secondary).
In a line: The patient trophy hunter (or voucher/guided client) with 20+ years of points wanting a low-pressure shot at a mature bull.
Recent changes: Always limited-entry / draw-only — unaffected by the OTC changes.
Where Elk Glade fits in
Elk Glade Outfitters runs primarily in GMU 59, not this unit — but we know the surrounding country and the regional draw landscape. If you have a tag here or you’re building points toward one, get in touch and we’ll talk through the strategy. If you don’t draw, we may have a 59 slot.
Data sources: elk success rates from CPW Colorado Elk Harvest Estimates (year labeled above). Public-land percentages are approximate. Draw point requirements shift every year and are described as ranges only — always verify the current-year figures in the CPW big game brochure and draw recap before applying.
